The 6th Edition of the Team Lyle Minnesota 8 hour Rally (TLM) will be held on Saturday August 13th at Moon Motorsports in Monticello, MN. The TLM rally is a great event to dip your toe into the world of Iron Butt style motorcycle rally riding. This Team Strange event is a perfect introduction rally for the rally curious with plenty of challenge for grizzled rally veterans. You create your own 8 hour ride. We supply a menu of points scoring destinations for you to select from. In most cases the unique bonus locations are located in small towns or along low volume motorcycle friendly roads. This year there are no bonus locations located in the MPLS-St. Paul metro area. A successful rally rider will select from the menu, locations that combined, make a highest point scoring ride within the 8 hour time limit. You will not be able to get all or even most of the bonus locations, a rider must choose and route their 8 hour ride wisely. At each bonus location, riders will do one or a combination of the following tasks; answer a question related to information only available at the bonus, take a photograph of a specific nature, or pick up a cash register receipt and/or an item to document your visit to the location. Reading comprehension has been known to undermine many a good ride – pay close attention the bonus instructions, they are NOT riddles, but words like “when” or “what” can be critical to receiving credit for a bonus. GPS coordinates are NOT supplied. The instructions supplied on the bonus menu will enable riders to find the bonus locations with the help of a State of Minnesota Highway map, which will be supplied to all riders this year. Riders will also receive commemorative 6th edition Team Lyle Minnesota rally swag (TBD) as part of your entry. Riders will need a digital camera or phone capable of capturing clear photographs as may be required per the bonus instructions, a 3mg (1024x768 pixels) file is a good indicator of a minimum (for clarity) size photo. We will not be keeping camera cards, we plan to look at the photo’s on your device to score, we will also have a laptop with SD card reading capability (a slot to plug in the card) available as a back-up at the scoring table, any USB cable connections that may be required to read your device will need to be supplied by the rider. A well prepared rider will have pens, highlighters, a calculator, and post-it flags to mark bonuses and route(s) on the map and to calculate your route score, time and distance. Rally staff will be on hand at to check in riders at Moon Motorsports in Monticello, MN by 6:30 am Saturday. We will have coffee and pastries available. There will be a brief riders meeting held at 7:45 am with the bonus menus handed out as quickly as possible. Riders will have about an hour to plan routes prior to the rally clock starting. Riders will be free to leave at 9:00 am - the rally runs to 5:00 pm. If a rider is not checked in by 4:59:59 pm you will be classified as a DNF. No grace period will be accorded to riders; you’ll need to plan your ride carefully. Freaks, Geeks, and Clowns always welcome. Team Strange Uniform Rules apply to this event and must to be reviewed and understood by all entrants. All rider behavior rules must be adhered to during the entire rally, the camera rules per *11. Digital Camera Usage*; do not apply; we simply need to be able to determine via your presented photograph that you have meet the bonus criteria. THE TEAM LYLE MINNESOTA IS NOT A RACE!
